The Itinerary
Before your Canadian Wildlife Safari begins, spend one night amid the pulse of the country’s largest city. If you can dream it, you can find it here. Want to spend the day on the beach? Hop in a water taxi and head to the island for a day on its sandy shores with incredible views of the skyline. Craving nature? The Evergreen Brickworks offers a leafy respite within the city or head a bit further east to the Scarborough Bluffs for a trek along clay cliffs lining the waters of Lake Ontario. Depending on the season, sports fans can hit up a game (NBA, NHL or MLB—take your pick), art lovers should stop by the AGO and the ROM, and food-and-drink enthusiasts can indulge their senses through Kensington Market or St. Lawrence Market—voted by National Geographic as the best market in the world!
The Killarney Lodge immerses you in the pristine wilderness of Algonquin Park, all while suitably lodged in a charming pine cabin dressed in classic Canadiana. Wake up waterside with the Lake of Two Rivers serving as the view from your private deck, watching on while the loons, beavers and ducks tend to their daily routine as you sip your morning coffee. Algonquin Provincial Park is Ontario’s most popular reserve, combining beautiful lakes, rivers, and unspoiled wilderness teeming with wildlife. Choose your challenge on terrain that ranges from flat trails along boardwalks to more difficult routes that climb over ridges, rewarding you with views of a seemingly endless forest range. Prepare for sightings like beaver or moose (best seen in spring) and the other critters that call the park home. During fall months, stunning colours sweep across the landscape, dressing it in fiery hues. After a lovely lakeside lunch, opt for hopping in a canoe, biking on one of the forested trails or visiting the Algonquin Art Centre, which showcases the inspiration behind Canadian artists from the Group of Seven.
Hop on a flight to Manitoba this morning for the next leg of your journey, tracking down some of Canada’s wildlife giants. Your home for the next three nights will be a luxury eco-lodge that places you deep into the wildlife action of the Hudson Bay coast in Northern Manitoba. Staying deep in the heart of polar bear country, you’ll embark on heart-racing excursions to spot these incredible creatures in their natural Arctic habitat.
Continue westward to British Columbia: the home of towering mountains, pristine lakes and some of the country’s most iconic animals. Settle in at the Spirit Bear lodge in the Great Bear Rainforest. Experience an ancient culture, spectacular wildlife viewing, stunning landscapes and reconnect with nature. Immerse yourself in true wilderness on a grand scale, deep in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest. Spirit Bear Lodge is Indigenous owned, offering exclusive access to wildlife viewing areas and cultural sites within the Kitasoo Xai’xais traditional territory. Search for grizzly bears, black bears, and spirit bears in pristine river valleys. Spot whales, porpoise, sea lions, and much more while exploring the Great Bear Sea.
Wrap up your journey with two nights in Vancouver. Here, outdoor enthusiasts and city dwellers are one and the same; you can hike, bike, swim and ski, all within the city limits, and find an organic wine bar or high-end restaurant for a night on the town. Get lost on a stroll through Stanley Park—an urban patch of green (well, at 450-hectares, a bit more than a ‘patch’), hugged by the shores of English Bay. Take a water taxi over to Granville Island, where you’ll find boutique shops, art galleries, a brewery and a fresh food market. Head to Lynn Canyon for a worthy component to the Capilano Suspension Bridge (with fewer tourists) and take to the surrounding trails amid a forest of Douglas firs and deep gorges.
